NELFT provides award winning community and mental healthcare for over 2 million people. We work to ensure our patients, their friends and family, feel confident that their health needs are well met. With an excellent reputation for research and development, our skilled health professionals are at the cutting edge of evidence-based innovation, opening up the possibilities for better ways of working and delivery of care.

We are committed to the delivering the best care for our patients. The successful candidate will share this commitment and demonstrate our Trust values.

We are committed to continuous learning to improve patient outcomes so this means that we are also committed to the professional development of our workforce. We want to ensure you have the opportunity to grow and progress within NELFT, so take the first step on this journey by joining us now.

We are looking for a talented, developing leader to support Care City’s work as an innovation centre for healthy ageing, testing and growing the use of digital innovations across health and care services. This is a chance to develop your career, and to make a real difference in an exciting team, where big ideas meet real public services, and help them to do better.

About us

Care City is an innovation centre for healthy ageing, founded by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham and North-East London Foundation Trust. We research, innovate and educate to enable a happier, healthier older age. We aim to be the innovation partner to our local health and care system.

Care City is a start-up from within the public sector – with the freedom to take risks and be radical, and the partnerships to achieve real, practical change. We are a young organisation, and a talented, committed and friendly team.

About you

You are looking for a challenge and to be inspired. You want to work with public services - but not necessarily in public services - to change the world for the better.

You have some experience of research, innovation, design or project management, but more importantly, a willingness to learn. You take responsibility for yourself, your work, and your learning and development. You have the relentlessness to make change happen, and you want to make it your career. You are looking for a platform for your career, not a conveyer belt. You have strong people and problem-solving skills.

About the role

Care City is a project-based organization, composed of ten smart, committed people working as  a dynamic, supportive team. We are delivering eight different projects, for partners ranging from NHS England to the Healthy Foundation to the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham. At present, we our work includes scaling social prescribing, preventing strokes and falls, supporting carers to learn and thrive and helping to create a ‘healthy new town’ within Barking Riverside.

With this range of work - and the freedom to develop new projects to support healthy ageing in East London – this means that we are able to help colleagues to learn from diverse projects, focus on the areas they are most passionate about and work with us to develop programmes of work for the future, which grow as they develop.

You will start by working on our work with the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, who we are collaborating with to drive digital innovation in social care. This will likely be alongside work on a second, smaller project. The allocation of projects will contine to change, as you and our work develop over the coming months.

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. For more information regarding our assessments, please visit our website. If you are successful at interview for this post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills during the pre-employment checks.

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,659 to a maximum of £4,664).
