Band 5 Occupational Therapist Mixed Rotation
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the NELFT Band 5 Occupational Therapy Mixed Rotation. The Mixed Rotation includes inpatient and community posts within Mental Health and Community Health Services.
Currently included in the rotation is:
- Adult Inpatient Mental Health
- Adult Community Mental Health
- Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation
- Community Physical Rehabilitation
- Community Learning Disabilities
- Frailty Inpatient Mental Health
- Frailty Community Mental Health
The Occupational Therapy profession within NELFT is a highly valued, vibrant group based across a wide range of health services.
Occupational Therapists work as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams contributing their unique professional skills, supporting service users to increase their independence and achieve their personal goals. All occupational therapists receive professional supervision from a Senior O.T.

The successful applicant will:
- Have strong clinical reasoning and experience in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating O.T interventions.
- Have a good understanding of Occupational Therapy Models and Process including the evidence base for OT.
- Have the ability to work and liaise with a multi-disciplinary team utilising good interpersonal skills and excellent communication.
- Be able to effectively and efficiently travel throughout the geographical area covered by the various clinical teams within the rotation.
The main responsibilities of the post:
- To assess, plan, implement, evaluate and discharge service users, with the understanding that there should be communication with senior clinicians and OTs if concerns arise.
- To assist, in conjunction with the senior clinician/ team manager, in the review and evaluation of the effectiveness of Occupational Therapy care and practice provided.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,659 to a maximum of £4,664).
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
