A vacant post for a Respiratory Nurse Specialist has arisen in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) in the area of Waltham Forest within the Community Services

NELFT is committed to meeting the needs of modern healthcare and providing the best possible services to its patients; as a result we have an exciting opportunity, which represents great career opportunities for the right person.

The successful candidate will be a Nurse with at least 3 years Respiratory experience particularly in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, including those with complex presentation and those reaching end of life.

It is also important that the candidate can work full time, demonstrating flexibility, good communication skills, an ability to work as a team member.

The candidate will work alongside, fellow respiratory nurses, physiotherapists, Health Care Assistant's ensuring high standards are maintained across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Promoting effective self-management of patients and/or providing professional intervention for community management in order to present unnecessary hospital admissions, improve quality of life and to actively identify patients who would benefit from case management.
2. The post holder will make a contribution to both patient and professional education related to the management of respiratory disease in Waltham Forest.
3. The post holder will provide advice and information for the development of the respiratory service in Waltham Forest
4. The post holder will hold a caseload and carry out home visits, early supported discharge or clinics as appropriate

This post requires that you work flexibly across Waltham Forest.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,659 to a maximum of £4,664).
