Clinical Psychologist Band 7. Adults with Learning Disabilities. Waltham Forest- London

This is an exciting opportunity to work in our dynamic and evolving community learning disability service supporting adults with Learning Disabilities. Our learning disability services are integrated with social care and health and aim to provide a well-co-ordinated and high quality service.

You will be  based in our Waltham Forest CLDT and will be supported and supervised by the borough lead psychologist. Our psychological therapies provision within the community learning disability teams consist of clinical psychologists, clinical behavioural specialists, art therapists, systemic/family therapists. Your role will involve working in the LD service (0.80WTE) as well as working (0.20WTE) one day a week with our IAPT services. Work with our IAPT services focuses on making the service accessible for people with LD by providing training, supervision, consultancy as well as some direct clinical work. Our LD Psychology Dept clinicians use a wide range of therapeutic approaches in supporting clients with LD.

You will have the opportunity to enhance and develop your clinical skills in a supportive context. Opportunities for CPD, peer support as well service development and research exist. We have a vibrant and active R&D department with excellent support structures. We also have excellent links with our local London based doctoral training courses and opportunities to provide supervision, consultancy and training.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).


Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. If you are shortlisted, invited for interview and successfully offered the post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills during the pre-employment checks.


Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex


High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,722 to a maximum of £4,743).
