Community Nurse

Band 5 Community Nurse Essex - Thurrock

Come and work for Community Nursing in Thurrock in Essex, a great location having  mixed  rural and urban areas. On your days off you may wish to visit nearby seaside locations, a host of country parks or take advantage of easy access to  London with world class entertainment, restaurants and cultural venues. Nearer to home there is  great shopping at   Lakeside and Bluewater ,with  lower rental and housing prices than London.

You will be working with a diverse community enabling you to develop knowledge and skills around differing cultural perspectives whilst delivering nursing care. We work in patients own homes residential homes, and clinic settings. Our patients are over the age of 18 with a predominant physical nursing  need.( Please note that this is  not a  position within a Community Mental Health team).

Community nursing provides an excellent opportunity for career development by learning new transferable skills and preparing you  for working  in other specialist teams in the community setting. NELFT also supports further training apprenticeships  Mentorship/ Consultation and Diagnostics/ Nurse Prescribing /  District Nurse Specialist  Practitioner.

We want someone who is able to see our patients  as individuals, with multifaceted needs,  who  has the  ability to carry out a holistic assessment  of all areas of their lives, including the opinions  of   families and carers. You will be  responsible for your own  workload and allocated patients , working autonomously   but  with  the support of a wider integrated team. Agile working is encouraged to  support best  practise and safe patient care. You must also be able to get yourself and any equipment that you need around our communities , efficiently.

We are offering part time and fulltime contracts of between 22.5 and 37.5 hours per week, involving a shift system over 7 days per week.

Applications from students and newly qualified nurses are welcome  as we can  offer  you a comprehensive induction and local  preceptorship programme.

The ideal candidate must be a registered nurse (Part 1) and will work as a member of the integrated community health care team, working within and across professional and organisational boundaries. Liaising with GPs, other professionals and statutory and voluntary agencies, he/she will deliver individualised care to patients under the supervision of the Senior Nurse

Probationary Period

Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement; 5% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £1,000 and a maximum payment of £1,733.
