An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our growing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Havering. We are looking for practitioners who want an opportunity to not only make a difference to the children and families within our borough by providing high quality direct clinical work, but who are also willing to work with the team on service development initiatives, be part of reviewing the effectiveness of interventions and service models, and engage in working together to continue to be innovative and creative in the way we provide support to Children and Young People (CYP) and their families. You will work as part of a committed, forward-thinking and caring multidisciplinary team, which is co-located with local Targeted Children’s Services which include Therapists, Pediatricians and Specialist Community Nursing Services.

Havering CYP Mental Health Service has been part of a Local Transformation process, which has included the development of the CAMHS and the adoption of the I-Thrive model to support children and young people. The service focuses on emotional wellbeing as well as mental health and includes access to self-help tools and services based in schools and the community. We are creating a modern service that fits with children’s lives in a way that best suits them. Key new features include a Children’s Single Point of Access into the service, clear early signposting, and use of digital channels to access support and services. This is an on-going process of change and development and therefore provides a great opportunity for workers to take an active part in new service developments, building new service models and thinking creatively about how we can build our service to meet the needs of CYP in the best way.

The post holder will work within the framework of this developing team, holding a clinical caseload as well as participating in assessment and Triage, service development, supervision and advice to more junior staff, and consultation and liaison with other professionals.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. If you are shortlisted, invited for interview and successfully offered the post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills during the pre-employment checks.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,659 to a maximum of £4,664).
