An exciting opportunity has arisen to for someone interested in working with psychosis and with families and carers. The post will join the Inpatient and Acute Psychology Team and will work across the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Teams (CRHHT) working with people with psychosis and their families and carers. The successful candidate will be offered supervision and training in Family Interventions for Psychosis (FIp) and work with more senior psychologists to ensure people with psychosis are well supported and their families and carers have access to support and evidence based treatments, particularly at the point of crisis.
This post represents additional funding recently awarded by the Clinical Commissioning Group and speaks to an increased recognition of the importance of psychological input for those in crisis.
The post holder would join a well-established and well respected team of psychologists working with those in crisis - either on the inpatient wards or within the CRHTTs. The team includes approximately ten qualified psychologists, many of whom are actively engaged in developing national best practice guidelines, are involved in research and teach on local clinical and counselling psychology doctoral courses. We are a supportive, dynamic and ambitious team.
The post would involve working with service-users and their families at a point of crisis to prevent admission to hospital. The team works to a Social Systems model and the psychologist would be instrumental in delivering that, with social systems and family work training available. Although the post would specialise in working with those with psychosis, you would also see service-users with a range of other difficulties including complex depression, trauma, personality disorder and suicidality. You'd be well supported by an experienced team.
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,722 to a maximum of £4,743).
