A job opportunity has become available for a motivated and dynamic band 5 occupational therapist within NELFT’s Intensive Rehabilitation Service (IRS).
The IRS is a large multidisciplinary community rehabilitation team which delivers high quality, intensive rehabilitation to people within their own homes following step up from community (to prevent unnecessary admissions to hospital) or step down from acute hospital after a period of illness. The IRS enables and empowers patients to have more autonomy over their rehabilitation as it offers a choice between inpatient, bed-based rehabilitation and rehab within patient’s own homes.
Occupational therapists currently working within the team have found they are able to analyse and grade meaningful occupations to create person-centered, evidence based treatment plans due to the flexibility offered by the patient being in their own homes.

The successful candidate will be able to:
- Use a range of skills and experience gained in clinical practice to complete comprehensive, clinically reasoned assessments to devise person specific treatment plans enabling patients within productivity, self-care and leisure.
- Support and empower junior staff within the team with supervision, training and joint sessions
- Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for patients with multiple in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of effectiveness of treatment
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,722 to a maximum of £4,743).
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
