Due to increased funding in the NELFT Acute Mental Health Services an exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of an expanded Occupational Therapy Service within the acute mental health care pathway.

Within this service you will have the opportunity to work with service users throughout the acute care pathway, supporting the provision of specialist OT assessment and interventions to service users both as inpatients and in the community/in their homes.

You will work along side Occupational Therapists and other OT Assistants to provide a recovery focussed occupational therapy service including 1:1 and group work.

Occupational Therapists in the Acute and Rehabilitation Directorate(A&RD) work as integrated members of multi-disciplinary teams contributing their unique professional skills, supporting service users to increase their independence and achieve their personal goals while supporting recovery and social inclusion.

The successful candidate with receive professional supervision from an Occupational Therapist in the A&RD Mental Health Occupational Therapy Team. 

Occupational Therapy within A&RD is a highly valued and vibrant group that offers you the opportunity for professional development in a supportive environment.  You will be encouraged to attend monthly local CPD sessions and an annual away day.  You will also have the opportunity to attend the NELFT OT and AHP annual conferences.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.  The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,722 to a maximum of £4,743).
