NELFT provides award winning community and mental healthcare for over 2 million people. We work to ensure our patients, their friends and family, feel confident that their health needs are well met. We are looking for an enthusiastic energetic and caring practitioner to come and work in the Thurrock Team. You will need to be a newly qualified Nurse, Social Worker or Counsellor/Therapist preferably with experience of working in CAMHS or with young people in a different setting.

You will be assessing and offering treatment and support to young people and their families. The young people will be experiencing difficulties with their emotional wellbeing and mental health

NELFT’s EWMHS is for anybody aged between 0-18, living in the Southend, Essex and Thurrock areas and is free at the point of entry. The service is also for young people with special educational needs (SEN) up to the age of 25. The CAMHS Tier II and Tier III services no longer exist, replaced with an integrated EWMHS. Any young person experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health problems, (or any parent, guardian, professional or teacher of a child who is experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties), may access our service.

What difficulties can be referred to the service?

• Mood and anxiety disorders

• Behavioral and conduct disorders

• Emerging personality and attachment disorders

• Eating disorders

• Psychotic disorders

• Deliberate self-harm and suicidal ideation

• Substance misuse with co-existing mental health needs (dual diagnosis)

• Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) - with co-occurring mental health needs

• Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) - with co-occurring mental health needs

• Neurodevelopmental disorders

• Prolonged bereavement problems All referrals to the service are assessed using a care pathways approach, developed in line with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance criteria (NICE) and based on a best practice model of treatment.

NELFT’s EWMHS offers a range of services including parenting and family group therapies and short psychological treatments. These services often use self-help and guided self-management. We also offer more in-depth psychological treatments. These are evidence based and are delivered by highly skilled practitioners including clinical psychologists, family therapists and child and adolescent psychotherapists. Working in psychological services in EWMHS is for you if you are excited by a modern approach to helping children and young people. We would very much like to hear from you.
