EWMHS (Emotional Wellbeing Mental Health Service) are looking to recruit to a series of posts, all of which involve Full Core Assessments, Risk Assessments and Management of young people experiencing Acute Mental Health Crisis in both the community and A&E settings.   We are looking for candidates who have demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of working with the legal frameworks which, relate to the care and treatment of children and young people who are both in and following on from crisis within a community setting.   We are looking for people to join our new service ISS (Intensive Support Service) who have the flexibility and enthusiasm to work in a service that operates 7 days a week, 365 days per year.  This therefore involves working some unsociable hours. As the service works in an agile way being able to efficiently and effectively travel across the Essex locality is an essential criteria. 

Applicants must have a registration under either the NMC for Mental Health Nursing, be a Registered Social Worker or hold registration with other Allied Health Professional Registering Body.

The service has the ability to work with young people and their families within the community which could include seeing young people in their own homes, having service engagement on a daily basis if the need requires. The work includes not only Risk Assessment and Management within an A&E setting, but also delivering Brief Therapeutic Intervention and Treatment packages within an approach to Multidisciplinary and interagency working where required.

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic, experienced clinicians to join our exciting new service. We are particularly looking for clinicians who have experience in:

  • Assessment, formulation and management of people experiencing Acute Mental Health Crisis, in both community and hospital settings and are experienced in the assessment and management of Clinical Risk as well as formulating and implementing robust community based care plans.
  • Demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of working with the legal frameworks which, relate to the care and treatment of children and young people with particular reference to Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended in 2007)
  • Flexibility to work within a service which operates 7 days a week 365 days per year including unsociable hours
  • Are able to carry out high quality Mental Health and Risk Assessments in a variety of settings, including A&E.
  • Able to formulate specific high specialist care and treatment plans, providing skilled and specialist interventions and care to young people with complex mental health problems. Completing detailed written assessments in a timely manner.
  • Have a passion and enthusiasm for delivering high quality care to young people and their families
  • The use and of Management of clients electronic records.
  • Managing busy or complex workloads as part of a team.

The team covers the following areas; Colchester, Harwich, Clacton, Marks Tey, Manningtree and Boxford. The base will be Colchester, but there is an expectation to travel across all of Essex on a service needs basis.

Probationary Period

Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
