Are you passionate about safeguarding and have experience of working within the safeguarding adults’ arena? If so we would welcome your application for the post of Specialist Advisor Safeguarding Adults. This exciting opportunity has become available for a highly dynamic and motivated individual to join the Safeguarding Advice Service - Adults Team within NELFT.

The role will be based at Phoenix House Basildon, but largely agile working across the Trust extending to all areas the Trust operates in. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will be visible among services within NELFT as part of the role of embedding safeguarding knowledge and practice.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Nurse or Therapist and must be able to work as an autonomous practitioner being responsible and accountable for choices made and possess excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills coupled with the ability to work under pressure in this challenging role.

The post holder will be required to contribute to the delivery of the Safeguarding Adults agenda in accordance with national and local guidance. This will be in conjunction with the Clinical Leads for Safeguarding Adults in developing collaborative multi-agency working on all issues relating to safeguarding adults as well as supporting the ‘Think Family’ agenda with our Safeguarding Children colleagues.

This post is predominantly centred around staff advice and development with limited interaction with service users and their families.

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Assessment/Interview info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. If you are shortlisted, invited for interview and successfully offered the post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills during the pre-employment checks.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.  As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

High Cost Area Supplement - Essex

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,000 to a maximum of £1,733).
